Chilling and winning

First things first, the winner from the Kaffe Fassett giveaway is Allison C. I’ve sent an email, so be on the lookout for it, Allison!

And, I’m sitting around waiting for the voting to end over at Threadbias to see if my first quilt design wins anything. If I decide to make the design in solids, I’m wondering what colors to use. Any suggestions?

Other than that, it’s been pretty boring around here today. I was in bed before 10:00 last night, which is absolutely unheard of around here. I even told myself that I could sew if I didn’t go to bed, but I couldn’t muster up enough interest or commitment to do anything. Now, after a full night’s sleep, hopefully I’m ready to go. Ok, to tell the truth, it was a full night’s sleep, followed by dragging my pillow and blanket to the couch to watch an episode of Numbers, followed by a 2 hour nap.

Today’s plan is to grade some essays and to intersperse that with a quick trip out to the grocery store and some sewing. I’m want to try my hand at machine applique for the first time since I got my new machine. I won’t be able to show off the results right away even if successful because I’m working on a gift, but I’m staying hopeful that the applique will work well because that will open back up so many quilting horizons. And, hopefully, I’ll squeeze in some projects that I can show up. I have the Kaffe Fassett fabric that I did keep all cut and on the dining room table, ready to be sewn into something useful.

Happy Saturday!
